Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate created the Carrie Chapman Catt Award to recognize high schools throughout the state for their commitment to registering students to vote. Iowan Carrie Chapman Catt was a national leader in the women’s suffrage movement and helped secure the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution.
Schools registering at least 90% of eligible students to vote will receive this distinguished award. Schools registering at least 50% or more of eligible students will receive statewide recognition and commendation.
