San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria created the Dr. Shirley N. Weber Award for High School Voter Registration to encourage students to register to vote. Named after the California Secretary of State and former San Diego Assemblymember, Dr. Shirley Weber, this award recognizes her passionate and tireless leadership in supporting youth and civic engagement throughout her public service-oriented career.
Award Distinctions
Schools can achieve different levels of recognition based on their level of participation in voter registration events throughout the year.
A school that holds at least one drive will receive a certificate of recognition
A school that completes 50+ registration forms* will receive an award banner
A school that completes 100+ registration forms* will receive an award trophy
*This includes faculty and staff
Award Tracking
Tracking for the award is based on the number of paper registration forms completed at a participating school’s voter registration events. The email you receive following signing up will provide further details on award tracking.
